First Day at DMAE:
I remember sitting in Ms. McGrath's homeroom, waiting for instructions to start the day. I remember looking around the room and thinking to myself, "These are my future buddies." I remember on that I felt extremely nervous, however, I was excited to meet new people and begin my high school career. I was relieved that I didn't have to spend the next few years with the students from Tenafly. To be honest, I didn't feel comfortable there. My sister and I had just transferred there from a small catholic private school in Norwood. This school has 25 students in every grade at most. In Tenafly, every grade had atleast 300 students. So, it was a big change to go from a small school like that to a school with a huge student population. To make things worse, the students already knew each other and formed their friend groups. So it was hard to make friends with the other kids. The Academies gave me a chance to start over with new people. I was able to be myself and find people who shared my same interests and humor.
